Guest Speaker - Dr. Foose
Please join us to welcome and hear from our Superintendent for the HCPSS, Dr. Renee Foose. The event will be on the evening of March 11, 2014, 7:00 to 8:00 PM. She will talk for approximately half an hour to share her strategic plan – Vision 2018 - followed with answers to issues and questions specific to Rockburn.
To help prepare for our time together with Dr. Foose, we are asking you to submit your questions to us in advance so we can collate and prioritize them. This will also allow her to come fully prepared to answer and address them. Due to time constraints, Dr. Foose may not be able to answer all questions submitted. Please make sure your questions relate to Rockburn or the school system as a whole.
Please send your inputs to Denise Eakes at email@example.com or submit inputs online via this link
Reflections: Believe, Dream, Inspire
Congratulations to all the participants of the Reflections contest! Three Rockburn students have been selected to advance to the State of Maryland round of the contest! The winners are:
Abigail W (Primary) - Film
James G (Primary) - Visual Arts
Emily L (Intermediate) - Visual Arts
There were several hundred entries across all arts categories (words, pictures, music, dance and film) at the Howard County level so competition was stiff.
Come celebrate and congratulate the contestants selected to advance to the Howard County level at 8AM on March 12, 2014 in the Media Center. Refreshments will be served as we view the many fine and creative submittals and present awards to the Rockburn finalists.
Congratulations and best of luck to the 3 finalists select to move on to the next round of competition!

Rockburn Elementary has an energetic PTA!
The PTA provides a wide range of programs and activities to support its teachers, students and families. We hope our website will help you understand, navigate and find the programming of greatest interest to you and your family.
All parents are welcome to join the PTA and to attend PTA meetings. The PTA helps fund many programs throughout the year such as cultural arts initiatives (assemblies, artist in residence), 5th Grade Simulated Congressional Hearings and Young Author Program.
Your contributions to the PTA allow us to sponsor these programs as well as purchase medals for the Push Up Book, 5th grade Signature Shirts, after school programs and enhancements to our recess and PE programs.
The PTA also provides each teacher with financial support to purchase additional educational supplies needed for their classrooms, and funds community building events such as the New Family Social and Fall Dance.
Rockburn is a strong and vibrant school community thanks to the time and energy many parents and guardians devote to the school. We hope you will join in the vital contributions of the PTA.
